Lessons From Our Mothers
For a lot of women, their mother-figures are what inspires them to follow their dreams and be themselves. To celebrate our mothers today, we asked the e-board to submit a few sentences on the most valuable lessons their mother-figure has taught them.

The biggest lessons my mom has taught me are to care about everyone, to be unapologetically myself, and to find beauty in the unconventional. She cares deeply about everyone she meets and her strong values guide her in everything she does. She’s always been my biggest role model and one of the coolest people I know. I wouldn’t be anything close to the person I am today if it wasn’t for her helping me at every step of the way. Love you!

The biggest lesson my mom has taught me is resilience. She has shown me the beauty in bravery, and the strength in kindness. It is our blood and bones to make mistakes, but if anything those make you stronger. She has taught me to go where no one has gone before, that following passion is where you will find the most success. Every day you continue to push me to places I have never gone before, and I am eternally grateful for you and your unwavering love and support. Thank you for making me who I am today.

My mom has taught me about the importance of facing challenges with a confident heart and a courageous soul. She is my #1 role model because she is the most fearless woman I know. She and I immigrated to the United States when I was just five years old because she wanted to give me a better life. Leaving her family and friends behind and deciding to come to a country where she did not speak the language was one of the biggest challenges that my mom faced, but she has faced every hardship that she has encountered courageously. From Yahaira, I have learned the importance of facing challenges fearlessly. Gracias, Mami.

My mom taught me it is never too late to follow your passions and pursue your dreams. She led by example and never gave up on herself- she told me to forever stay true to who I am, no matter what challenges I may face. Halfway through her life, she decided she was done compromising, done meeting society's expectations, and done caring about what anyone else thought. She is brave, she is resilient, and most importantly she believes in herself.

My mom has taught me to be confident, to have fun, and to always have a bag of peanut M&Ms at the ready. I look up to her for her strong voice that always makes an impact and am always amazed at how she knows what to say at the exact needed moments. She has taught me how to make any situation light, fun and full of laughter, and how to add a bit of sweetness to life through endless stashes of candy.
